Q:
Why should I consider a GEMINI?
A:
GEMINI MARINE has been trading since 1979, delivering the
most reliable, safest and softest riding quality RIBs and Inflatable

Q:
Why are GEMINI boat collars (or tubes) made out of Hypalon?
Which is best?
A:
Most Quality RIBs today are manufactured with Hypalon tubes; however
smaller sized boat manufactures often use PVC because it is cheaper. However, professional Institutes worldwide (coastguards,
extreme ops, anti-terrorism units, water police, UK Sea Rescue, NSRI)
insist upon and use only Hypalon. Hypalon has long been the best and
only fabric to use in quality manufactured products. It is:
-
Immensely strong
-
Wear resistant
-
Waterproof and air tight
-
Immune to hazards of sunlight, ozone, fuel, oil, acids and
contaminants.
-
More durable than PVC
-
Easier to resell
-
Resilient even in extreme heat
For GEMINI, Hypalon is the obvious choice.

Q:
Are inflatable boats safe and stable?
A:
Yes. RIBs and Inflatable boats are seen as the most stable and
safest boats in the world. Baffles inside the tubes, with separate
and wider tube compartments, means enhanced levels of safety.
The reputation of GEMINI RIBs & inflatables for safety means
that they now set the worldwide standard for professional use by the
military, coast guard and other rescue agencies. Also the nature of
the GEMINI design means that when boat is stationary, the
pontoons rest in the water, resulting in a stable platform.

Q:
Why Choose a RIB?
A:
RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats) are constructed with a hull
manufactured out of fiber-glass with an inflatable collar/tube for
increased buoyancy and stability. The collar (or tube) acts as a
shock absorber ensuring that the craft has unparalleled
seaworthiness, safety and stability. RIBs have a low center of
gravity and a high centre of buoyancy RIB's are used around the
world by Military, Commercial, Rescue and Recreational users.

Q:
My boat is leaking but I can't find the leak. Any advice?
A:
-
Tighten all valves
-
Use a soapy water mixture (dishwashing liquid) in a spray bottle, then
spray or brush your inflatable while it is inflated.
-
Watch for small bubbles to appear.
-
Mark the leak location for repair.
-
If leak is serious rather contact GEMINI or your
nearest approved GEMINI dealer to assist you.
................................................................................................................................................................................
Q:
At what air pressure should my GEMINI operate?
A:
Optimal operating pressure for most of GEMINI’s boats are +-
0.25 of a BAR. If you do not have pressure release valves, remember
to keep the pressure in your boat constant. As the temperature
rises so will the pressure in your tubes/pontoons.

Q:
“My boat says 8 people or 900kg’s. Does that mean I can have more
than 8 people in boat if I don't go over the 900kg’s Max Load”?
A:
Safety at sea is fundamental. Weight is not the only factor –
passenger space, safe seating and evacuation are all considerations.
GEMINI makes such recommendations in consultation with our
safety experts and quality standards. To ensure you adhere to
maritime rules and insurance requirements, please always follow the
manufacturer’s advice.

Q:
Why are inflatable boats and RIBs so popular for professional
applications?
A: Inflatable boats and RIBs are said to be the safest and most
stable boats in the world. GEMINI’s tried, tested and proven
design and construction means that GEMINI RIBs and inflatable
offer extra floatation. Our multiple chambers in the pontoons/tubes
means that if 1 compartment gets punctured the others will stay inflated
ensuring buoyancy and safety. Our reputation for safety means
GEMINI inflatable boats and RIBs are now the standard for use by
the military, coast guard and other rescue agencies worldwide.

Q:
I want to make some repairs to my inflatable boat but I don’t know
what kind of material it’s made of. How do I figure it out whether
my boat is made from Hypalon or PVC?
A:
Rib & Inflatable Boat manufacturers use two general types of coated
materials – synthetic rubber (Hypalon or neoprene) or plastic
polymers (PVC). If you can see both sides of the material (from a
tear, loose seam or by removing a valve), you will be able to tell
the difference. If the two sides of the material are different colours, it’s probably Hypalon or neoprene. If the colors are the
same, it’s likely to be PVC. Or contact us with your boat serial
number and we will trace the necessary information on your boat for
you.

Q:
Must I always follow the manufacturers’ recommended engine HP size?
A:
Yes, Control insures safety. The manufacturers’ recommended maximum
HP ratings are given for good reasons and not only to avoid excess
weight over the Transom. Using an over rated HP engine can lift your
boat to the point where sufficient planing surface is lessened
causing an unstable situation. Excess speed on any model can also
cause loss of control.

Q:
How easy is it to repair a GEMINI?
A:
The nature of the repair depends on the actual damage of the boat
hull or tubes. Minor repairs can be done by the owner following the
simple instructions on the GEMINI repair kit. If the required
repairs are more serious, please contact GEMINI. GEMINI
MARINE has a large maintenance facility with qualified
technicians who will gladly give you advice on how to repair damage
to your boat.

................................................................................................................................................................................
Q:
Can I use the airline at the garage/fuel station to inflate my boat?
A:
We do not recommend this because whilst inflating the boat water
might enter the tubes and over inflation is a serious risk, rather
use a hand pump.
................................................................................................................................................................................
Q:
At what pressure do my GEMINI pressure release valves open?
A:
Pressure release valves will open roughly at 0,26 of a BAR and will
deflate the tube to roughly 0,23 of a BAR
................................................................................................................................................................................
Q:
How should I clean my boat?
A:
Dishwashing liquid and hot water. Refrain from using any cleaning
agents that contain Ammoniac. This will damage your boat’s material,
whether it is Hypalon or Pvc.
................................................................................................................................................................................
Q:
How do I remove grease, oil & fuel stains from my boat?
A:
Make use of lacquer thinners, and rinse/wash the boat with a mild
detergent like dishwashing liquid after the cleaning process.
................................................................................................................................................................................
Q:
How often must I remove the floor boards in my Full Inflatable
(soft-bottom) GEMINI?
A:
Once every six months. Remove the floorboards and clean properly –
removing all dirt & sand. Sand the floorboards and apply paint or
varnish. Allow to dry.
